Solar photovoltaic panels are made from silicon based cells. When the PV panels are exposed to sunlight, Direct Current (DC) electricity is created. This DC electricity is converted by an inverter into Alternating Current (AC) electricity which is fed into a building’s AC distribution board, providing energy for your use.
To generate the power needed for a building, photovoltaic panels are combined into modules called arrays. How much electricity is produced depends on the number of arrays used.
Photovoltaic power stations ( solar farms / solar park ), are designed to generate enough electricity for a power grid.
